From The Sea ATCs

Inspired by a swap-bot swap, I actually used a previously made postage stamp & seashells ATC for one of the partners.

The red on the edges is not part of the ATCs, but the background where I photographed.

Indigenous Art ATC

So many continents, countries, cultures to chose from... the easiest for me would be a mandala ATC (or maybe a mandana wall art adaptation, although the two should not be confused). When I search for "indigenous art" by far the most common to show up is Indigenous Australian art (also known as Australian Aboriginal art).

Animal Pattern ATC(s)Alien landed in zebra skin: Aniaml Pattern

titled: Tiger Pattern?
Alien landed in zebra skin: Animal Pattern
Another that took me a long time - spent too much time thinking about the theme.  I really liked the first zebra I drew - but not the final  mounting so much.

It's almost amazing to me how moving the eyes just a bit and a little change in the profile and a very similar HDHP looks completely different!

Cat collage ATC Swap

I am hosting a cat collage ATC swap for a group on swap-bot.

On the unfinished ATC I will be adding a row of lime green baby rickrack diagonally in the bottom left. If I find more kiwi slices, I may add more on the upper right.

Warhol-Inspired ATCs

These were created while preparing for a Warhol-inspired ATC swap on swap-bot.com. All of these animals are endangered. All are 3.5 x 2.5 inch Art Trading Cards.

The yellow on the Western Lowland Gorilla ATC is felt. The gorilla in the photo used for this ATC was not digitally modified. The tiger and chimp face were created by digitally modifying photographs and then completed with hand-drawing. The tiger has an addition collage piece on the bottom.

Working with Vellum

I spent quite a bit of time working with vellum for a swap.  I wanted to use a technique where ink/paint on the backside of vellum is heated until it "pops" and becomes textured. I don't have a heat gun but I thought my hair dryer would be hot enough.  Perhaps not, or perhaps I had the wrong type of ink or vellum.  What I call vellum does not wrinkle up when it is wet as some descriptions say.

Vellum Nursery series:
(or did I title them "baby shower 1 and 2"?)
The trick seems to be attaching the vellum. For the bears, I glued white paper behind the inked shape so that the background would not show through.  One needs to remember which side was stamped, as the adhesive can smear ink
